    Performance upgrades GTI

    Hi all.
I,m in the process of sourcing a DP for my GTI.
I chipped about 2 or 3 years ago and car has been trouble free.
I,m happy with expected gain with DP BUT........
Is it worth fitting a TIP and CAI to our cars with the KO3 in regards to power gains.
Also will I need a FMIC if the above is fitted.
Car goes great and I understand the Flash was the best bang for buck but curious as to real world gains other members have experienced.
PS it is my daily drive.
    Thanks

    Performance upgrades GTI

They all help, little bit here, little bit there. Personally (not a MkIV, but a 1.8T), I'd go for an IC next.

There are some nice CAI options, but not going to do a lot for power.

    Hey Bullsta
On my MK4 GTI I have a 42DD 3inch turbo back exhaust with a Custom Code Stage 2. No need for IC or CAI at this point
It gives our MK6 a good run.
You can get a DP and cat , but to really benefit from the extra mods you need to up the tune.
IMO, leave it as is unless you do hardware changes and retune.

CAI does little more than make a cool noise.
2.5inch DP & high flow cat added about 9kw with APR tune.

I have a BMC CDA in the shed, if you are interested.

I have an SPM downpipe and stage 2 Custom Code tune, standard turbo - k03.
Considerable improvement over standard GTI setup, and still using the stock intercooler without issue

    Thankyou all.
As said, the car goes really well as is but a gain is a gain .
The problem may be that Revo don,t do a stage 2 for my car, although I thought the Stage 1 allowed for a DP (I will check though)
Hey while I have you guys about, has anyone tried the N75 J. From the TT to the best of my knowledge and apparently lets the KO3 boost a little higher. Again not sure how my Revo tune will like it!

IMO a tune isn't so critical on a MK4 with a downpipe, it won't throw any codes beacuse of the high flow cat. So you could get one fitted and be missing out on a couple of KW.

A vented wheel arch liner will help some more air pass through the stock intercooler, I remember we did a group buy on here about 4 years ago and I got about 6 liners from Courtney (whiteVR6) and Seb (Bug_racer) at Euro Revolution, they were a good buy for around $75 each. The VW part number was 1JM 809 962 A

They may even have one or two still laying around.

You can do a ghetto hack job but the genuine article is a nice effective mod for not much $$$ and a straight bolt on replacement.

I thought you only went to a stage 2 tune if you had a k03s, intercooler, full exhaust, high flow intake?

How much of a difference between stage 1 and 2 for a k03 with just a downpipe?

I have quite a few upgrades..I can't drive my car in the wet at all now and first gear is also useless as is second if u come into it with any heat. Surprised how much traction issues the gti has to be honest. Makes me want to go back to rwd or give awd a go.

Would consider an lsd, but have heard a few horror stories and they are quite expensive.
