Passenger Side CV's and shaft - Where to buy

    Hi all Mk4 people,

My passenger side imnner Cv is buggered and my mechanic suggested to get a whole shaft due to the clunking noises and some shuddering under brakes.

Where is the best place to buy these shafts?

    Thanks,

    Scott

I forgot to mention it is a 1.8 20V non turbo motor and a manual 1999 model.

Aparently there are lots of different CV's depending on the power train involved?

    Thanks,

    Scott

Check phone book for cv reco shop around your area. If you were in the city i'd give you a place to call. mate dont pay more than 120.00 for a complete shaft you should also get 3 months wty if installed by licenced mechanic.

Im in the same boat atm, just got quoted $300 for a whole passenger side driveshaft though. I'm guessing it is a genuine part, and have been told a number of times that going non genuine isn't worth the trouble with driveshafts.

My mechanic told me that no CV reconditioner or other parts place will give me price because there are so many different CV's and shafts.

I would really like the situation where I could drive into a mechanic, have the correct good part fitted then driveaway the same day rather than leave my car there for a week while my old dead shaft is reconditioned.

I will do some ringing around.

i've been told by VW mechanic that the left side drive shaft is buggered on my 2008 T5 and it'll cost $1450 to replace. A fairly steep price I thought. It drove perfectly straight and normal until getting front shock absorbers fitted and now it shakes under acceleration and braking. The service manager informed me that drive shafts sometimes get damaged when fitting shockies but I'm still going to have to pay since they think I had an accident before hand and damaged the shaft myself.
I'm in Perth at the moment and running out on time before having to get back home to the east side. Does anyone know of someone in Perth that can check it out and repair only whats necessary.

i found raxles to be a good option for driveshafts compared to oem. I emailed marty at raxles and he said 350 for the shaft and 150 for shipping and they have a lifetime warranty. When oem was going to be about 800 or so!
