    Passenger door stuck!

    Hey guys,

Been a while since ive made a post but the Bora hasnt had a problem in 6 years! Until now. The drivers door has had a problem for a few months of the light not coming on when the door is open, hence the fuel pump not priming and a little bit of a slow start. This didnt bother me too bad.

But now, the passenger door lock is playing up. I cannot open the door from the inside or outside. It sounds like the motor is trying to move but nothing happens. If i pull the internal handle the door snipper button rises and then retracts as I pull and release the handle. Seems like it is working mechanically. Has anyone had the same problem? Im guessing its probably the lock mechanism but i just wanted to get some ideas first. P.s. Its an 03 Bora 4motion.

    Much appreciated.

    Nathan

Having the exact same problem with my Golf. Noticed the door was starting to play up but today it seems to have finally died.

Yeah mine is a similar story. It was on and off. Now seems to only open when its cold, ie early in the morning. Makes it hard to repair when i cant open the door in the afternoon. Have done some research and guessing its the micro switch or the solder joints. Will be removing it this week hopefully for some interrogation. Will let you know results. Hope to save the $330 for a new lock module!

Well, after a bit of research i seem to have fixed the problem. I cant believe it actually worked! All it seemed to be was a dirty switch the lock module somewhere. Go buy yourself a can of electrical contact cleaner with a nozzle on the end and spray the whole can into the gaps around the door latch module in the side of door (the part that latches to your door frame) while pulling the outside handle over and over.

Only problem is you'll obviously have to get the door open before doing so. The fluid should flow out the bottom of the door. Hope this fixes your problems. Saved me $330!

I managed to get the door open one afternoon while playing with it, so I took the opportunity to pull the card off. Door works perfectly now...weird.

The important thing is to effect repairs on the door whilst it can be opened. Have seen too many where people leave it until it has finally died before bringing it in. If door can't be opened, it can get ugly and brutal. Save yourself time and money and fix a small problem before it becomes a bigger one.
