    Question Overboosting at low RPM

I'm having a bit of and issue with my 2000 gti. If the car is in 1st or 2nd in low revs (1500-2000rpm) and I press hard on the throttle the turbo goes nuts and I get a rush of boost untill about 3000rpm when it all settles down to regular boost levels. I'm pretty sure it's not going into limp mode as the regular power is still available. I'm thinking it may be dues to a faulty N75 valve or MAF sensor but I don't have easy access to a VAGCOM so I can't do any diagnostics. BTW the only mods I have to the car is a sports muffler and an APR R1 DV. The car was only bought about 2 months ago so it's still under warrenty, I am bringing it back to the dealer next week to get him to look at it but any insight from the vast pool of expertise on this forum would be greatly appreciated, cheers

How do you know it's over boosting? Is there a boost gauge fitted? You can't see boost on the MK4 GTI with AGU engine and a VAG-COM lead.

Try Jmac he is in Runcorn.

hmmm my car seemed to do that somewhat, and i liked it, and then i cleaned the MAF, and after that i noticed my car went slower, so i assumed i broke the MAF from cleaning it so bought a new one, it didn't seem to do much, and now my power delivery is boring, i don't seem to get that surge i was getting, sort of simillar to what your are describing...
i'm gonna follow this thread closely...

note: even though before i cleaned my MAF it felt sort of harsh the way the power came on, it would give me 0-100 times of ~ 7.2 seconds which is about right for a chipped gti. Now it's around 8...
