you could look into whats interchangeable onto a mk4 gti with the parts you've spent on your current car
that way your money isnt wasted plus you get a faster car
that supercharger will give you just enough power to say "i wish i had gone turbo"..
trade in prices suck, you would get alot more privately. look on carsales. use the grey matter in the upstairs room. Sell your dub and buy an already turbo gti or what have you. i picked up a gti for just over 8k in good nick.
youre not desperate to buy, so be smart, and find the good deal.

There is only 2 reasons I don't want to sell it..
1. Is I love the metallic green colour
2. Is that it's still under finance for another 2 years.. I paid $12500 for it 3 years ago and the repayments are cheap

1.8t swap? And then cts gt28rs kit, about four grand for the kit. Will make heaaaaaaps!
It may 4 grand for the kit but maybe another 4-5 k for supporting mods and installation I think I'm up to 5k for my frankenturbo

I'm in a similar position. So I looked up a few GTI's on car sales, and they're about $11,000+. That's a big difference compared to what I'd get for my 1.6L, about $4000 difference!

... On a further note (seeing as the GTI seems too expensive right now), would selling the 1.6L to get a 2L be a reasonable upgrade? HONEST answers please.
Can I please get some REALLY honest feedback on the 1.6L vs the 2L? I'm thinking that it might not be worth the trouble of selling my 1.6L (which I love the rare colour of), just to get a 2L (which some call 2.slow ?). But don't really know the ACTUAL difference between them, and what they can do.
I'm also looking into a CAI and Viezu tune as a 'cheaper' alternative, where I :
1. keep the car, which I love the colour of,
2. don't have to take all the new wheels & suspension: off + on to sell, then off + on again on the new car $$$,
3. don't go without a car in between selling and buying (Public transport is a b!tch accross the flow, 3 changes),
4. don't gamble on the 'condition' of the 2L/GTI, and how it's been driven, etc.
Would I still be wanting to 'spend more money on the 2L or GTI once I had it anyway? Or is stock GTI good to go?
That's a bummer about the 'weak gearbox' issue if you want to add a turbo or supercharger, I was REALLY liking the sound of the supercharger!!

I never know if I should start my own threads with this stuff, if it's already on-par with what I want to know. Apologies if I should, suggestions welcome.

dont mod the 1.6 and i dont have personal experiance, but from what ive read dont get a 2.0.
dont believe the hype of the price of GTIs. there are good well priced examples. be patient. can get a nice car under 9k if youre savvy/

As far as I'm aware there are no metallic green gti's.. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Only other thing is I really can't be bothered taking everything off my car and having to put it on another one. I've put alot of money into my 1.6 and don't really wanna just sell it for a 1.8t.
I want to turbo/supercharge it and any help doing it would be great. I know alot of people with 1.6lt engines would like to see how it goes too.![]()
