    Opinions on the mods

Now that the transmission on my car is finally fixed I can begin the modding process!
Suspension: Im looking at coilers but the FK street are seen as a "cheap" option but will they crap out after like 10,000km or will they last longer than that. Any opinions on coilovers will be much loved.

Also with lowering my car do I need to remove the roll bar? Or will be fine I was thinking of going lower by about 30mm or so.

Exhaust: What is the best exhaust for a V5 Bora? I have heard that the 2.5' Borla Cat back that Simon was talking about is a good option but was wondering if there were any others out there before I go for the above one.

Wheels: The wheels I am looking at are GTC GT-CX 18"x8.5 ET45 But I was wondering if they would make my car look really weird? Monster truck tires or the such. Should I be looking at slightly smaller wheels or will these be good (My car is white)
Any opinions also on other mods that should be done to my car. Feel free to shoot them at me

FK have a large range, some are budget to match with JOM, TA technix and similar brands.
Their higher range uses koni struts if i recall correctly.
Basically with coils you pay for what you get.
cheap will usually get you low, but ride can be average and might only last 25k km if you push them.
H&R, Bilstein, KW, usually dont go super low, but will ride more like a stock sports setup.

in saying that. I had TA technix, did 70k km or so on them. ride got better as time went on, went low enough for aussie roads, only sold them to upgrade

some cars need a new sway bar or end links at 30mm, others have got down to 50mm no worries.
the general rule is 40mm before needing to do work.
Keep in mind while you might only want to go 30mm lower then what the car is now, the car might have already sagged ~20mm from stock height over the years

Doubt they will fit, will hit the struts in the front. need more like 8.5et35 for stock/minimal drop. more like 8.5et30 for a 50mm drop up front.
    18s is a good size for a stock or not slammed mk4, with a 225/40 or 215/40.
Otherwise 17s were a stock option if you want some chunky side wall

Ive been running TA Technix coil overs for over 20 000 K, without any major issues. If you're looking for lows on the cheap, FK Streets, TA Technix, JOM will do it for you.

BUT performance wise they are pretty horrid. Handling on the TA's is quite sloppy and very soft (and will probably be similar to the FK Streets). IMO its worth the extra coin for a decent set, even the higher spec FK's with Koni shocks can be had for under $800 AUD (Check the FK site as their shipping rates are much better than ebay etc).

    Just my 2 cents.

just remember... on a smooth race track most coilovers will be great....
on the street the little sharp bumps and hollows are what makes it tough..
I have Joms in my mk4.. happy with them.. could be a bit stiffer in regard to the valving in the shocks.. but overall they work well for daily duties.
the problems I have with them are similar to what the KW entry level coilovers give so can't be too bad for the money!!
