    Opinion wanted on this Bora

Love to hear what you guys think of this 1999 Bora (V5 2.3 1J)

    http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsa...lectedUsedCars

Ideally i'd like a v6 4motion but in Adelaide there are only two for sale that I can find:
    One is a 2003 2.8 4Motion 73,000Km and cost $27,000
    The other is a 2002 2.8 4Motion 130,000Km Sport and cost $20,000

In light of these being the only two around, a 1999 v5 for $14,000 seems reasonable. (The 130,000km's on the $20k one seems a bit high)

I'm going down to check it out tomorrow, any tips for things I should look out for?

From what I can tell these older v5's have the following differences to the new v6 4motions:
    - cut out head rest
    - no 4wd
    - no stability control (not sure what this is)
    - 110kw (vs 125kw for a v5 4Motion and 150kw for the v6 4motion)
    - no sun roof
    - i think the leather is different on the old Bora's
    - air conditioning control in bad spot (or air conditioning doesn't work very well)
    - cup holders flimsy?
    - different alloy wheels, still 16" but not as nice looking on the old bora

Is there any other features i'm going to be missing out on by getting an old v5 vs a newer v6 4motion?

(For some background, i'm not really a fast driver so speed is not a huge issue, although i would *like* the v6)

If you really want a 4 motion, don't compromise. Just give it a bit more time or go interstate. I went to Melbourne to get my A3, not a big deal really.

heres a great clip on stability control - the computer cuts power to yr wheels then applies brakes for you and allows you to maintain control while driving around multiple objects

i got my 2002 v5 bora for 15,500 mate, from a dealer, you need to just chill and wait for a cheap one to come by

there was a 4motion 2001 bora on sale a month or so ago for 13,500!!!

    trust me, for a v5 1j 2000-2003 u should pay no more than 16500-17500

Just a couple of points. You seem to be saying that there is a V5 4 motion which there is not. Only V6's are 4 motion. Secondly my 2001 4mo has done over 150,000k's and is fine.
2001 Bora 4 Motion Sport now used by number two son
2011 Skoda Octavia Scout now with Underground Performance tune
2010 Jetta 125 tdi dsg for the misses - Impressed
2006 Polo GTI - Enhanced by some of Gav's magic - Absolutely loving it

Hmm i think you could haggle the 1999 V5 down a little.

    I got a June 2001 model V5 (with 125kw), 140k (last april) for $14,500.

So you should be able to get it down to at least $10k-$12k.

    Good luck!

What a great fuel saver this one.
I have never in my life heard someone descibe a VR as a fuel saver.
