Question Opinion needed for timing belt replacement/major service

    Hey guys,
I'm planning on getting my 2002 MKIV GTI serviced this week/end as it's currently sitting at 122k km and I haven't had funds to replace the belt up until now. I'm looking at getting it serviced at Wolfsburg Motors in St Peters (Sydney) and have been quoted at ~$900 (covering parts+labour including the waterpump) plus another $60 to get the sump plug rethreaded. Has anyone had any previous experience with these guys? I've seen a few guys post about them here which is why I'm thinking of them but that was a while back now. Any pos/neg reviews on them would or if you have any trustworthy alternatives around Sydney CBD with prices that would be greatly appreciated!

Also do you guys recommend getting anything else replaced during this time? I was thinking just spark plugs as well as fluids, not sure if coilpacks, etc are recommended?

Mate at 122k I would be getting it done ASAP, once these belts let go not much is salvagable! I would get a new tensioner fitted with the belt if not already being done. Changing the gearbox oil is always a good idea if it hasn't been done yet, coil packs should be fine though. $900 all up sounds about right if a little on the expensive side.

Yeah tell me about it...! That's why I'm leaning towards Wolfsburg as they're the closest VW specialist to me. Fingers crossed everything holds up on the drive there.

Opinion needed for timing belt replacement/major service

I use them for my Mk3 TDI timing belts services. Pricing was fair. Just note they do get busy. St. Peter's train station is only 3 min walk away so you have options of getting yourself about town easy from there.
