Its *really* good. If I open my boot at any time, its perfect, I can see everything.

How far is your sump off the ground now? Any thoughts of getting a sump guard or will you just wing it and hope for the best?
Thanks, yeah, gave myself a few headslaps for those bolts.

I was umming and ahhing about a sump guard, I dont plan on staying that height, but even at stock height its close to the ground. Its approx 100mm off the ground now. The OEM VW skid plate is $509. The dieselgeek one is $410 once you include shipping, but as I am a motorbike rider also, I dont want to leave any oil on the road for my 2-wheel brethren to slip on, so I think I will get one.

Yeah the height needs to be adjusted all round, I dont have a level drive, so its hard to get it right. I ran out of time to get it to sit ok. Will take it to my sisters this weekend and get it perfect.

I'm not phased about the rubbing, investigation shows its only hitting the dust shield, not the guards. BUT at lock I am hitting the front struts. So, either come up, or space and roll. I'll come up until I can space and roll.

Dylan, did you go with a sump guard?

Thanks! They are FK AK coilovers. Very much an entry level and they go even lower than this.

    Which ones? The interior ones?

They are genuine and from the lower spec MKIV's. I hate woodgrain.

Search ebay, I did the lot (not including shifter or vertical stereo surrounds) for under $100 from memory. That includes ashtray lid, cup holders etc etc.

ok nice job done on your bora man...looking good! I've just finished reading your notes and wow what a big improvement since you bought it. I got the bora v5 and I need to change the shocks quite soon and don't wanna go onto coil overs since my g/f doesn't like it.
Anyways just your opinion would you go for the aftermarket like bilsteins or go OEM? I got some feed back from mechanics and ppl around me saying that after market is much cheaper and better.

I gotta say, after having HKS track coilovers in my R33 GTR (spine shattering stiffness), the coilovers in the Bora feel like shocks and springs. Super comfy! You'd never know it was coilovers in there.

But, I have looked into other alternatives also, including Bilsteins and Monroe shocks. I'd be inclined to go either of those (preferable the Bilsteins, but expect to pay more for them.)
