    NSW Coppers v Coilovers

    http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/documents/...ifications.pdf

Going to be fitting my coilovers soon,

I researched the legality of coilovers when a kid at work said that that they have been known to defect people with them.

When i drop my car i will be making sure that the lowest part of the car is 100mm from the floor, legal tires/wheel sizes
On the face of it i suppose the car will just look a little lower than standard.
I take it spacers are not kosher either ?

What are peoples experiences of NSW cops have they ever got anybody on this, or does it depend on the cop involved (you all know the type)

If i have read the document above correctly it would suggest that I need to get an engineers report, is this all a grey area ?

    Thanks troops.

Look at item 12 in the table - they don't require certification.

What words in there make you think you would? (In case I missed something).

    Spacers are out.

Re: treatment by the police - it depends on the driver (looks, age, demeanour), the suburb, the look of the car & whether you are driving like a bell-end.

Some interesting things in that PDF.
Needing Certification for "increasing the original power output by more than 20%."
So a basic tune from 147kw to 190kw would need to be certified. Or 110kw to 150kw in the case of the MK4 GTI

    But coil overs are Okay.
