Test it first
Ok guys, be kind as I'm a bit of a numpty when It comes to this stuff...
I bought a Golf GTi for a steal a few months ago, and when I bought it it just had no guts (Still no guts today).. I had a guy diagnose it through a VAGCOM like device, and it said the N75 valve was shot. Bought a new N75J valve (its all they had in stock in Australia) and fitted it, but no love, it still didn't build boost.
Today I went out to the car to have a look at where to tap into for a Boost Gauge, and found that both the Fuel Pressure Regulator, AND the BOV vacuum lines where just venting atmo... I've hooked them back where they are supposed to go but haven't had a chance to take it for a drive yet.
WHAT ELSE could possibly be the reason that it doesn't build boost? AFM didn't show up on VAGCOM, and I did try taking the vacuum line off the top of the valve which did make the car build boost (didn't floor it of course)
Any idea's??
Kris
Ok gavin, just took it for a drive with those vacuum lines hooked up to the nipples on the manifold... Still no love...
I think I should just take it to a good mechinca and pay a bit of money.. as I've previously stated.. I'm a numpty.
Took the car into 3 Point Classic in Newstead. They cleared the Fault with the original N75 and called me saying the car was alright now. They test drove it and it produced boost. They asked me if I wanted them to change the valve over to the N75J which I supplied them with, and I said yes... I got the car back and although it idled much better, I couldn't feel the turbo kicking in at all. I got it home and thought about it, and realized that the J valve is orientated differently to the original valve... All I had to do was turn it around 180 degrees, and it now runs like it should. It's been a while since I drove a 1.8T (used to have an APR flashed polo) and the car I was driving before this golf was a 180kw atw WRX... this golf needs some bits to make it faster

Not enough gauges to take him seriously...
