And whats this vent atmosphere?

You don't have to have a noisy exhaust (or at least not an excessively noisy one) in order to get it flowing better and to give you more power). Something to consider.

Around $1000 for chipping by any of the reputable companies.

Chipping won't make your car fall apart, that's generally age. Mk4s can be over 10 years old now, there's general wear and tear that occurs with that sort of age that you really can't avoid.

Blow off valves (and their OEM equivelents) work by releasing excess boost from the intake during gear changes, etc, when you don't want the higher pressures in your intake manifold. There are two main types (three if you count the hybrid of the two) - plumb-back and vent to atmosphere. Plumb-backs release the boost back into the intake system again (recirculating it) back before the turbo. Vent-to-atmosphere valves simply let the air out into the atmosphere (under the bonnet) and making that "woosh" or whistling sound you sometimes hear on turboed cars - the problem here is that it's illegal due to emissions regulations, and it can confuse the ECU because the air the ECU thinks is in the intake system has gone (it's already been "counted" by the MAF), and the ECU adds fuel as if that air is still available in the intake system already, and you get over-fuelling issues (better than running lean, but can lead to sooty exhaust, fouled plugs, lower power, etc).

For what it's worth, if you don't have a blow-off valve or OEM equivelent, the pressure builds up in the intake manifold and back to the turbo itself, and can eventually cause turbos to fail (it also causes a noise often described as "flutter") as it causes pressure buildup on the outlet (not exhaust!) side of the turbo which can damage the turbine blades.
    Nothing to see here...

IMO i would get a Bailey, GFB or APR (there my top 3 in order) to who i would use. the bailey and gfb are servicable however apr is not.

With an "AEM" style intake it will echo through like it has a blow valve (like mine although i wish it didnt)
    What’s behind you doesn’t matter..
