Hello everyone
My name is Jason (TheOt)
My car is a mk4 golf gti. Black
I bought it all stock.
Mods I have done are
silicone turbo intake pipe.
T bleed valve boost controller to increase the boost to 13psi
Full turbo back exhaust. 3inch down pipe with 2.5inch muffler muffler. This is where I need help.
After I got the exhaust install my boost has drop.
I had to adjust my boost controller to set it back to 13psi.
It will spike up to 13psi but drop down to 8-9psi. Is this normal or do I have a boost leak ?
Or do I need more back pressure?
Cheers

Welcome to the forum. Nice to see another Mk4 on here.
There's a couple of other Mk4's on here from Adelaide - dubster99 often comes out to our events and he's just got his car running. Not sure if it'll be out at the cruise this weekend... For details check here: Adelaide: Monthly Coffee and Drive Meet - Discussion Thread
2017 Tiguan Sportline - Tigger73's 162TSI Sportline
2016 Scirocco R, stage 1, 205kwaw (sold) - Tigger73's Scirocco R Build
2013 Tiguan 155TSI, stage 1, 144kwaw (sold) - Tigger73's 155TSI Build
2011 Tiguan 125TSI, Stage 2+, 152kwaw (sold) - Tigger73's 125TSI Build
Take that boost controller off before something goes wrong. If you search the internet, you'll find practically no one on the planet uses one on a MK4 Golf. It's no longer the 80's, which is a good and bad thing.
The correct way to deal with performance on these is with software in the ECU. Which controls the boost and adds appropriate fuel and timing to suit.
Indeed Dubster99 in Adelaide will be able to show you a few things. He also has an ECU which is tuned and has no immobiliser in. This might be for sale or at least loan so you can see what a tuned Golf should run like.
And welcome to the forum.

Yeah I agree tuning the ecu is the way to go but I just don't have the money for that right now. As you said I might ask dubster99 if he has a tuned ecu for sale. My wife is studying...in a few years my dream will come true lol 😁. She will finish and get a job. Lol
