Great choice of car there. Workshop manuals are produced by "Bentley" and should be available by ordering at a good bookshop. Owners manuals, I am not so sure about apart from a VW wreckers?
Anyway, glad you found us, welcome once again, Andrew
    thanks andrew,

i'll check out the auto book shop near my work, i managed to get my workshop manual for my GSXR online which was easier but yeah see how we go. i'll go to a VW dealership on the weekend to check out getting some floor mats and have a chat to them about getting a spare key (around $500!) so i'll see if they have any old manuals.

    cheers

Hi Fuzz and welcome to our slice of VW heaven!!

First of all,Please accept the apologies from the Exec team and all of our members.Racism ,whether racial or religious is not accepted on our forum,in any shape or form.Sometimes it slips through our net,but we try our best to frown upon it and take action against it.
I have spoken to 1dub2c and he is very sorry for the comment and he meant no harm in it.It was just a silly throw away line, but it still was racist and we must take action.
We have decided to ban Raymond for 7 days and when he returns he will watch what he types on forum.
Anyway on a lighter note, one word of advise with your rims, make sure you take your time with getting the right ones, look around and dont rush!!!
dont go any larger than 18's and make sure you lower the car!! otherwise it will end up looking like a truck!!!
Make sure you post up some picks soon!!!

    Regards,

    George

    Welcome aboard Fuzz!

I'm also in the market for wheels too now. If you see a bargain - let me know

Good luck with the manuals. I have proven time and time again that my mechanical skills aren't really all that so I let someone else do the work for me

Welcome aboard again, sorry for the rocky start.

i've created a bit of a rukus on my introductory post, should be all smooth sailing from here.

cheers again for the words good to see like minded people and a bunch of stand up guys, raymond included. an un-malicious comment and he apologised so it's all good. looking forward to a cruise day to say gday.

onto more important things, i went down to 7 days tyres on parramatta road and got kumhos all around, got them and a balance and alignment for 500 which I was happy with and the tyres seem to be alright. i'm happy with the standard mags, kind of like the sleeper look.

i'm at 37K km's and i'm going to do the 40K service as judging by the state of the tyres that were on it it's had a short and hard life. i've got that urge to go to the vw dealership but i also know a guy who used to work at a dealership and started up his own thing so i may take it to him. Any advice or watercooled specialists that you guys use?

and my camera ran out of juice and i haven't re-charged it so i'll do that tonight and get some pics.

    cheers

Although i'm sure your friend would be fine (40k service isnt a big one) it'd prolly be much better to get it done at VW or a certified shop for the stamp in your service booklet.

Dude called Seb @ Girraween or Derek @ Mona vale both come highly recommended - They do great work and don't charge stealer prices.

yeah good call,.if the guy at mona is good i might head down there. my closest is barloworld at mascot but they look like there in the retail side more than service.

edit: called mona service and they don't have a derek?

Oh haha sorry - I should have been more specific! - Derek and Seb both run their own european performance/mechanic shops seperate from VW.

Seb's is 'Euro automotive' - 0410541322 - He does alot of work for people on here (inclduing myself, my brother, my dad) and is a great guy - He's an EX VW engineer iirc.

Derek runs 'European autotech' - Can't help you with a number but he has an equally good reputation (I have had a service done there in the past - also a great guy) - http://www.europeanautotech.com.au/

There are a couple of other good guys around from what I read, but these are the only two i've had experience with.
