no the car isnt cranking at all, just giving me a dash warning beep, and these lights EPC Engine Service
i have studies the book, the IMOBILIZER light is NOT on and apparently isnt halding it back.
i assume the EPC light i have read is the engine management light is what i assume is stopping it.

Ok firstly forget the immobilser altogether, even if it were locked out it would still crank and start momentarily then cut straight out so forget that. it would even start if the cluster was removed and that has the immob in it, but would cut out, so the key is crank and start. Is the fuse box on top of the batt good?? even when they can appear good they can be making and breaking inside, check the output of the fuse links are in fact 12v.
If it isnt cranking it cant be EPC either mate, its losing a start feed or a main feed hence check the output side of the fuse links
    Cheers

Not much really, however these days you can get the digital voltmeter for less than $20 and that would help you a bit.
Also it's a handy tool to have.

Had similar problem with B7 Passat... it was a fuse... but it took four weeks to fix... had to get it trucked to another dealer who knew what they were doing. Glad to hear you got it going.
