    The irony is that the dealerships do this to be helpful.

    Perfectly understandable if I'm not sure what year/part i'm after.

    But when you want a particular part of a particular car and can even provide part number, it's a little silly.

    Its more than silly, its ridiculous!

    Years ago when my father ran an automotive parts and accessory store, he could and would quote part numbers off the top of his head, based on make/model.
    These days are long gone, yet everything is on computer! Raaaaaa!
