need help with a new beetle ecu

I'd imagine it would be. Most computers will always have a small battery in them that will general outlive it's host. Ocasionaly these will fail and a symptom of a failed one would be a checksum error of some description. Open up the ECU (I dont know where they are) and have a look on the board to see if their is a surface mount one. If not it may even be conected with a 2 pin conector.

If it's already stuffed then there is no harm in trying...
