I have a standard GTI and it does not have projectors, nor does any other MK4 Golf other than R32's. R32's have Xenons in Projector style headlight housings. Maybe things are different on Audis, bout not on the Golfs.

Ok - thanks to the help of Matt (fkndubbin), I know have HID's.
I should have taken photos whilst we did it, but we were too busy talkin crap and havin a couple of jimmys.
The difference is awesome at night. A very worthy mod for both safety reasons and also the coolnes factor when you first switch them on.

Tim you will notice a big difference I tell you I have them on my stockers that I getto moded, its really simple all you need to do is cut a 22mm whole in the back and then cable tie the balast to the panels hiding them they are really easy!
I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...

It was a pretty easy job as long as you know how to remove your front bumper.
The only modification you need to make is to drill through the back of the headlight to run the wires down to the transformer. We spent 3 hours doing it, but we could have done it in half that time easy if we weren't gas bagging so much.
