Thread: My Mk4 buildup thread...

  1. #21

    *cough* *cough*

I left the office early cause I have a runny nose and I was coughing. Has nothing to do with the pack of malbro lights I smoked last night I swear.

Anyways, was driving home and I stopped of at an exhaust place to get a price to do some things that have been on my mind. The last place I ended up was the muffler man on Malvern Rd - Prahan. He was great, he said yeah no probs - bring it in and we'll stick her up on the hoist (already more effort than any of the others went to).

Up it went and the guys eyes lit up like a christmas tree. They look new pointing to the KW's suspended in the arches said Trevor.

I know said the fat controller (me).

We poked around as he sussed out what was there and then we talked options. He asked me what I was after and I told him what my plans were for in the future. Then he looked at me again and he said you just want a bit more noise and you want it now dont you?

I looked at my shoes and said yeah under my breath.

$70 later we just removed my middle muffler and now complimented by the reamus box I acquired a while ago I walked out of there with a big fat grin on my face. It's not overly loud, and driving it normally you can barely tell the difference. Give the accelerator a nudge and it opens up to a smooth sounding note that follows with a few nice little burbles when you back of the accelerator at higher revs.

Has it done anything for performance? No. Has it added to the fun factor? Yes.

Once I decide on what I want to do turbo wise I'll then make the decision on what else to do to the exhaust. I just can't afford to have the car off the road for any amount of time atm. Once I'm up in Sydney I'll be able to public transport it to work so perhaps then I'll get the dump pipe done then.

Next up, HID's. Stay tuned to this space. Hopefully I dont have any more impulse purchases between now and then.

It might be my imagination but the wheels seemed to be screaching alot more through first considering today is as dry as the sahara. I suspect it has more to do with the dogbone mount i fitted but i could be wrong...
