Thread: My Mk4 buildup thread...

  1. #611

Hehehehehe - I didn't tell you the whole story There is more planned than you know. Once it's done AFAIK, there will only be one Mk4 Golf out there with more grunt than myself if all goes to plan.

Rephrase that, I wont settle untill it is the 2nd most powerful Mk4. The aim of the day here is to have a car that has a balance of torque and power for track racing. I want a tune that will balance it out but I'm not going for a dyno queen.

The final plans will be a LSD but I'm still in mixed minds about going single mass flywheel and what clutch I'll go. That will be next thing on the agenda to hopfully be done before DoVW.

In where? Australia? Mod the car the way you want, not according to anything or anyone else. But don't do something stupid like spend 7k on brakes on your daily

Please don't engage in some HP war or try to keep up with the Jones' so to speak, you'll just end up unhappy in the end

Good stuff. I figured you hadn't, but i've been filling in the blanks..

What's the issue with a single mass flywheel? I prefer them in my opinion. And i mean for any application. The Mk4 dual mass flywheel is pretty average i reckon. Same with most of them from around that era.

Good idea going for a balanced engine. Too many people get hung up on peak figures. Big peak horsepower is useless if it's curve is like a skate ramp. I'd rather have less, but have it earlier and for longer.

I wouldn't worry about that, Neil seems pretty level headed. It's pretty obvious that everything he is doing, he's doing because he likes it.

No shame in showing it off though. It makes you feel good and aslong as you don't get an inflated ego about it, no one else will care.

I have heard mixed reviews. I don't want to loose out on torque basicly. I'm going to wait and see how she drives after the new turbo goes on before I decide on how I'll manage that. If she pulls like a steam train then I'll consider it but I dont want it to end up being a HP with no grunt.

Fair enough, just I've seen a bit too much of this business here already and it has gotten quite ridiculous at times. People needing to qualifying themselves and judging others by their cars and level of mods, utterly pathetic. As we saw on Mickey's thread recently...

Looking good Neil, I'm looking forward to this new "aesthetic" mod of yours, whatever it may be, and it better not be like an aero wiper blade or something lol...

It will be only in Aus. I dont intend on going into a HP war, the reason I have chosen the path I'm going is because I specifically want the torque also. There is only 1 other car in Aus that is running physically a similar setup to me but they are having issue because of software or their basic engine. The way I'm going about it is going to be completely unique and I'll reveal more at a later date.

I have also another motive behind what I'm doing. I hope it will bring further competition into the Aussie tuning scene. You'll have a better understanding of this later once we sort out the whats what.
