MKIV 19 inch rims?

Hey guys, I ended up buying some rims - but got a PCD of 5x112 instead of 5x100. After looking around for adaptors or redrilling - it seems best to just get some new rims. I've found some rims that are local and cheap, however they are 19inch and have a PCD of 5x100 are 19x7.5 and have an offset of +42. I really dont want to buy the wrong rims again, so any help if these would fit? Also I know it probably is not reccomended running 19's, but has anyone else done it? Is it illegal to do so on MKIV golfs? Will it be hard to insure the car with these rims on? Btw my model is a 2000 golf gl 1.6L. Cheers

19s fit easy. Those specs should fit no problems. Although most guys tend to go for 17s or 18s on mkivs
Just get a 215/35 or 225/35 tyre and youll be right.
Insurance will depend who you are with... So you need to check with them yourself.
Youll have to look up the rules for your state, as each one is different.

There was something floating around the net about not being allowed to go 2" bigger than whatever your car came with, but I also read that was an old rule. Do some research but I think it has something to do with the overall rolling diameter not being allowed to be too far off the original rolling diameter (wheel size + tyre).

On the other hand regardless of whether it's legal or illegal that size, the width and offset (in my opinion) would look whack on your Golf, but to each his own. I reckon getting some nice styled 17s would look great. Bigger ain't always better.

7.5" and only +42 offset will look a bit wrong. very hidden in the arches. i have 7.5 +32 and i want more stance even now..
18" would look and feel better too i think go for aggressive offset.

he may not be going for the spaced out look... And they will sit further out then most mkiv oem wheels anyways.
As above, use the offset calculators to see.
iv only seen two sets in that sort of spec. And im going to say they are subaru wheels or something aftermarket made for subaru, if thats the case id be also checking the centrebore, u need 57.1, or bigger plus some hubrings

True, not everyone needs a tough offset and some people are overly extreme but it's good for people to realise that a decent offset and width are just as important as diameter. I wish I was educated in this earlier before buying wheels in the past for other cars. Now looking back at photos I get embarrassed.

Friends don't let friends wear Ed Hardy. No offense to those that wear Ed Hardy, and if you do then I guess it's ok to get 19x7.5s. To each his own. I'll shutup now.
