Cool, we'll give it a go this coming weekend
Thanks Al![]()
thats true quozl, but when i was deciding which CAI to get, BMC one was way too expensive, so i went with Neuspeed and i love it!

Hmmm.... Thoughts for future modification plan.
I take it the BMC Air Filter is the best CAI option?
How then does the Carbonio compare to the Neuspeed?
Al, how come with the BMC intake you don't have to worry about water entering? Looking at the BMC site they say not to put the intake down too low.
Cheers

Any intake will suck water if you drive through deep enough water. As you can see by the pic above the intake hose was only slightly turned down where a lot of the pod type filters sit right down behind the horn making it easier for water to be ingested.
When I was running the BMC I never had an issue in any of the rallies I competed iat with ingesting water and some of them were very wet. With the updated CAMS Tarmac rules I am no longer allowed to run an intake it has to be stock so we run the DSG R32 MKIV airbox and intake from the Euro R as it is a larger intake pipe than the Australian version. Testing with VAGCOM showed it was pulling the same gram per sec air as the BMC.
As for which intake is better I'm not touching that with a 10 foot pole, when i installed the BMC in early 2004 I went with it as it was the only option available at that time.
Just after this picture was taken at Wheels on Wide Bay I went through the main part of that puddle and water was everywhere over the bonnet and screen but had no ingestion issues, your only going to have a problem with any intake if the road is flooded and your trying to ford your way through, in saying that though if the pod filter is down there it's going to get wet and stay wet allowing some water to be ingested where as with the hose in the position I had it there's nothing there to trap the water.
Cheers Al

If you are so worried about sucking up water, get a bypass filter and nmount it inder the bonnet and you'll be fine
