    temp sensor part no.

hi guys any one know the part number for an 2002 gti temp sensor. I know they are about $60. Any tips on replacing it will be great. I have heard that our cars do some strange stuff when the tens sensor is out or on its way. Thanks

    Hi,

Vortex is a friend, on how to do, not sure on part number, phone VW ?

But I think symptoms range from CELS to Warm starts and problematic Idling. I think mine is on the way out but I have'nt managed to get around to doing it.

if you leave it loong enough like i did the car will not start at all when hot

either that or you have to crank it for ages and it will eventually start in a cloud of petrol fumes

NGOLF.U, mate how long ago did you do your CAI mod? Just wondering if it could have something to do with how you have positioned your control module after removing it from the side of the stock air box. Apparently positioning this in certain spots can affect your car with difficult starting because it's sensitive to temperature. Might be off-base but just a thought.

    thanks snowy,

yeh i have looked at that, the car began to miss-fire at one stage, so i played with that module and the miss-fire stoped immediatley. has not done it again since.

do you know of a better place to keep it.
you can see it hanging off the pipe just before the TIP.

either way im going to replace the temp sensor as its cheap.

I have mine zip-tied to the plastic cable ducting going into the firewall next to the shock absorber mount, so it's a bit further away from the action, not sure if it would be any different though.
