    MK4 HID kit

    Hi,

I'm fairly new to Golfs and I'm currently looking at purchasing this kit for my MK4: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/EDX-v1-HID-90...item3a56f7c5a8

From what I have researched MK4s use a H7 globe but wanted to confirm, I know that the listing says MK5 but in reality it's just a H7 kit with adaptors to be used on the later model Golfs.

Any info will be highly sppreciated!

    Alex

Please dont install any aftermarket HID kits to any cars. Not only is it illegal, you can also blind other drivers on the road as your headlights are not designed for HIDs, have no proper cutoffs for the light beam and will therefore dispurse the light unevenly.
Often you can upgrade your lights with much better aftermarket bulbs (Phillips for eg) which will have improved light output and are actually designed for your headlight housing.

    Valid point!

still tho I wanted to go for the 6000k since they're not so attention grabbing, and also thought that if they do blind ppl, I could dip the lights down to the next setting as per the dial on the dash next to the dimmer????

I have owned a previous car with HIDs and seemed fine.....

    Check these guys out
    http://www.directconnectiontuning.com/hids.html,
    http://www.parts4euro.com/DCShop/ind...?cPath=1_51_91
As long as the lights are aimed correctly and you have the proper cut offs like mine do since I got them from PartforEuro.com I say give them a try. Also I looked through the QLD transports rules as far as HIDS and they didnt say that they where illegal- that would be helpful if you can post us the info about being Illegal.. Unless you have some $$ for Euro Hids-- I say try them out and research about aiming them--its not that hard..

Australian Design Rules (ADR) say that they're illegal.

Hi I just got home and installed some Phillips crystal visions (4300k) they're nice and white like I wanted them, I asked a couple of guys at Autoranch if they're road legal and said if the packet says they're for off road use then they can't be used, these don't have that so I'm safe.

IMO it's my daily and don't really wanna attract any attention, for what I wanted and what I paid ish all good!

Thanks anyways for your help guys!

Conversation finished so I'll close this before it degenerates as HID installation in stock housings always does.
