You should make a better bracket for the heatsink, but well done for actually thinking about it. Also before someone ends up in hospital, cut the tails off those tywraps flush, so they don't cut you.
Hey everyone,
We did a pod filter (SRI) short ram intake install on our 2004 gti with an AGU engine. Thought the misses and I would post some pics of what we did as it might help others.
We went with a K&N Apollo air filter as it's in its own enclosure and I know they are legal. I have one installed on the mx5 that we turbocharged and very happy with it.
As you may know the AGU uses an ignition amplifier module that is attached on the standard air box and utilities the passing air to keep it cool.
So what we did was get an old computers cpu heat sink and removed the fan off it and attach it to the module with thermal paste. Then just screwed the module into the heat sinks fins. It does move at all and is solid tight. We then just cable tied the the to the plastic cover where all the wires go as you can see in the picks. We used 2 around it and 1 through the existing hole from the oem air box. The module doesn't move at all and keeps very cool even on hot days.
We also installed a GFB DV as we plan on tuning it in the future anyway.
Don't know if there are any gains, but sounds great. The intake makes a deep throaty noise. The car actually spools a lot louder, seems to run better too. And the new DV is awesome. Sounds good. If any one wants to hear it, we can record a video soon.

Already trimmed themthat was an older photo. Been running the car like this for roughly a month now just to see how the module will go there. But will definitely have to make a permanent bracket. Was more of a temporary thing that's still in place at the moment. We've got some aluminum steets and bits and pieces lying around. Will have to come up with something soon.
i dont know why someone hasn't come up with a POD to incorporate the ICM
Probs a bit too late for the Mk4's lifecycle now
You can actually push the factory heat sink out of the airbox and utilise it without having the need to use an oversized computer one
I first off bought a computer one before I found out the stock one comes out haha
Also easier to hide away being smaller
