MK4 GTI golf 2003 new upgrade

HI everyone,

My car has rims, its lowered , and now i would like to focus on the speed and performance, can some one please guide me to the next step in getting some new power from the 1.8t 20V.

i have around $1200 to spend.

One thing i have done is upgraded the intercooler with a forge side mount intercooler. I also have purchased a silicon inlet pipe , i bought it from a guy who ownes a mk4 gti and i took it to the mechanic and they told me it does not fit which is crap cause it should just fit straight on.

I live in Glebe sydney where is a good place to go where they can fit this pipe. i heard peak performance is good in parra?

^ Yep, chipping it would be the next step in order to get better numbers in kw/hp.

There's a few good places to have it chipped.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but the 2003 model ECU may need to be sent out for the flash upgrade, or it may be done on the spot via OBD port.

2003 ECU should be doable through the port or on the bench at worst. No need to open it up these days and solder anything in. Well under $1200 with Custom-Code.

Post a picture of the TIP. If it came off another local GTI it would probably be able to fit however your mechanic wouldnt know how to fit it. I would suggest taking it to a vw/audi specialist for things that need to be done.

Chip - GIAC, APR, UNITRONIC
Downpipe - (exhaust not needed imo, neither is hiflow cat)
FMIC or SMIC upgrade isn't worthwhile unless you're that worried about it and it'd only benefit you in summer.

N75J valve (controls your wastegate) and holds that boost a little bit more but really will only benefit you after being chipped.

I would start with chip first, then downpipe, n75h valve, change your diverter valve to a bailey, apr, or gfb.

Chip/downpipe would hit your $1200+ already to be honest but would be the most beneficial to your car.

so you don't think it's worthwhile to touch the cat?
would i be wrong to assume that after a while the standard cat will start to clog up, so by putting in a hi flow cat (and downpipe...) will be beneficial, not neccesarily because it is slightly less restrictive than a stock cat, but because it's simply new and not blocked?
I'm only wondering this because a mate was driving behind me the other day and thought my exhaust sound was very airy, like it was retricted...

Airy? My car sounds like a rocket on throttle/boost. You have to remember firstly most people compare it to their "turbo" experiences which usually is a japanese car. I make a consistent 140-144 at the wheels with a 3" downpipe and remus exhaust (no high flow cat) setup (plus other bits of course).
