Mk4 gti fuel tank

I've recently purchased a 2000 gti golf I've been playing, long story short I fill the fuel tank up just to find it has a nice little hole in the side. So my question is are they the same tank as the 1.6 liter in the mk4 ? They look the same, same fuel pump mount point thanks for any help given

Yes. Fuel tank is the same across all the same chassis (a3, tt). All models which include awd (r32, Quattro) models have different fuel tanks because of the rear diff.
