MK4 GTI Air Leak in TIP

    Hi Guys,

EDIT - I just realised that under normal operation of the car the TIP wouldn't be under pressure the way it is when using a boost leak tester, so I guess it doesnt matter too much if its leaking air from that point?

I built a diy air leak tester and have discovered a pretty serious air leak in the turbo inlet pipe where the rubber part attaches to the metal part.

I can't really see what fastens the two parts together it looks like theres just some sort of flimsy clip there and no hose clamp or anything. I'm not sure if theres some sort of gasket that seals the two parts together.

Can anyone suggest a good VAG mechanic on the southside of Brisbane and also if this is something that I'd be better off just buying a silicon TIP or is it possible to do a quick fix?

    Thanks heaps,

    Clif.

Boost won't leak from there but it would be bad anyway as the air will be unmetered and affect the fuel the ECU injects. Needs fixing up either way, I'd go silicon.

    Look on aliexpress
