Hi guys, anyone else experiencing an air con grinding sound which progressivly gets slouder as the rpms increase. Previously I mentioned that this sound generally goes away after I stab the clutch in and majority of the ppl on the forums said it was safe to ignore.
I however now have more info which might point to another direction... The aircon cools like crazy, however wether it is in gear or out - as I apply thottle; a grinding type sound (almost like a belt rubbing against something in the engine bay) progressivly increases with more RPMs only once aircon is on..... As soon as the RPMs are dropped down to <1,200 RPM the sound dissapears... Its driving me insane, and pretty much leaving me with no choice but to trun the aircon off and reside to using windows to "cool" down the car...
Anyone have any ideas? Any good mechanics in Sydney that will be able to identify the issue should further troubleshooting be required. I am so sick of the commercial mechanics - waste your time and money and sitll dont get the issue resolved...
Thanks ppl,
Arian
Sounds like the bearing in the compresor hub mate, how does it sound with the Air off???? Could also be the bearing in the belt tensioner. This gets load on it when the Compressor clutch kicks in
