So finally got around to pulling my brakes off last night, for some strange reason it was only my rear left that had worn out, to the stage that the pad had fallen out and was just caught on the rotor, sitting on the guard at teh bottom, this rotor is absoutley farked, anybody have any idea's as to why only one corner would have worn out, the other side had heaps left and the rotor was like double the thickness !

A (production) racecar I once worked with had a pad separate from its backing plate, which well and truly stuffed one disc, leaving the others fine.

    Maybe that's what happened?

Could of been, I think this side still had more wear due to the face both pads were worn out, even the one still in the caliper, seized caliper maybe >

Will both rotor's have to be replaced or is it possible to only replace the one that is worn

Replace them both mate otherwise they will be worn differently. No point cutting corners in the brakes department.

Pierre, that is exactly what I've been told, the stocks on these cars pull up very nicely on the street, and unless you're tracking it you're not going to gain anything really by going away from stock pads, and for street use without the heat you could be losing brake efficiency in a one-off emergency stop.

Im running the EBC slotted and drilled rotors with Greenstuff pads and they are great once heated up, but pretty average when cold and just driving around town. Think im going the Redstuff next time and some better fluid.

Good luck with it all Aiden, better get it sorted before this weekend!

Digging this one up from the past.

FYI I bought Brembo discs and Mintex pads all round from ECS Tuning for about AUD$450 delivered to my door in about five business days.

Was going to ask if I should get any particular copper/anti-squeal stuff? Will this tool work for the rear calipers? Stanley Rear Disc Brake Piston Tool - Supercheap Auto Australia
