Thanks I have been taking it to Frank's at Five Dock for other repairs. How much would a 2001 Bora V6 fetch now. I think I will put it on the market after this. I have spent so much getting it running. Or should I just keep it as a spare car...

yes they kept my old box. I got my friend to pick it up. They didn't explain what was wrong with it exactly. It's all done now, any point in finding out? It's not like I am going to get my money back. They do provide 6 months warranty.

$2,100 must have hurt but glad you got it sorted.
If you are thinking of selling, then have a look at carsales for an "indication" of price. Not sure if you would be replacing with another car or not.
I've seen 4mos going from 8-9K and I would rather buy one of them for the extra dosh but that is just me.

The rivets on the selector forks were coming loose . Its a common problem on all 02m 02q gearboxes . The fix is to replace the rivets with a nut and bolt .
I feel for you cause you just replaced one gearbox which had the problem with another that will eventually have the same problem !

Ouch. Best find out what if that was wrong so if it's an easy fix at least you can resell the gearbox.
