    Mk4 Bora Locked Out!!

    Hi all,

Does anyone know any way to open the bonnet on a bora 4mo when you can't get into the car. I went away for a while and the car has run so flat that I cant unlock it to release the bonnet.
I was thinking of taking the drivers wheel and guard liner off and try to get to the back of the release catch. Is this possible or is there another way? Am I right in thinking the release cable runs under the drivers side of the bonnet just on the overlap between guard and bonnet and then across under the front edge of the bonnet?

    Cheers,
    Josh.

that was the first thing i tried when the remote wouldnt work, its not doing anything. usually it works but im guessing there must be a solenoid or something which unlocks the door electrically.
    thanks anyway

Not sure if it'll work on the Bora, but sacrifice the grill badge to gain access to the bonnet latch bolts.

SHould be able to raise it high enough to pull the lever on the end of the cable.

You can grab a hold of the cable if you can get under the car and look straight up at the front right of the car follow where the receiver dryer is mounted it's located around that area straight above. it can be done be persistent it's a headache but you don't need to break anything.

You have to turn the key a lot further than normal. When there is power the all the turning is done by the electric motor, which is triggered by a microswitch at about 20degrees, the full motion is a 90degree turn and requires more effort too.
