    Mk4 Alarm/Remote Central Locking

Is there an aftermarket unit that anyone knows of that will work with the stock switchblade remote?

I have a switchblade fitted with a AH blank key for a Mk3 so it works as a key, but it doesn't work as a remote... is there a system I can cram into the car which is compatible with the stock remote?

Plan B is to shrink an aftermarket remote into the housing, but Plan A is easier if it exists. As far as I know the stock switchblade is simply a 315MHz transmitter so *might* work with other systems.

I'd be interested in that number mate. A lad at work is looking at a mk4 that hasn't got remote locking.

flip key style keyfob.. not vw, but im sure you can chop and fix things up a bit

it wont work with other systems due to the transponder chip inside, you will have to make your own with one of these systems or merge it into a vw keyfob possibly as mentioned.. ive thought about all this a very long while ago, howver my mk4 has one now so cant argue lol

it really depends on the frequency range of your key for your car.

I know of 7 ranges they do. So you need to buy the correct key range. Then simply get both keys recoded and you are away laughing. Mind you this only works for mk4 and above.
