yeh cheers for that Stu, i was under the disillusion that they had crammed 4 cams into the VR head bit of a tight squeeze dont you think? The R32/36 motor has the same 15 degree angle, is this also a two cam arrangement aswell? (sorry to go off topic!)

i love the VR motor, as long as it has a turbo

Any engine swop in a Mk4 is fraught with difficulty. The only one I would consider was if you had a real nice 1.6 that you wanted to put a V5 or something in that came from a Mk4 / Bora chassis.

Then I`d want the whole donor car and would swop every loom over in front of the fusebox. You`d need the ecu, key and column from the donor car to make it work.

I have all these parts from a wrecked V5 and would have put em all in an Ibiza if it was that easy. Its all here if someone feels the uge for a V5 Mk4.

Yep, still a twin cam head - only major difference being the direct injection into the combustion chambers for the FSI as far as I'm aware

    Just to clear somthing up.

If you do it by the book & legally, you can't put an older engine into a newer car at all under ADR's & engineer's.

Eg., you can't fit a VN 5L into a VS 5L, you can't fit a HK engine into a HG etc.

    You can't fit a 86 KR 16V into a 88 model.

But this is only if you do it by the book.

Why would you fit a VR6 into a Mk4 anyway.

It's already been stated that a lightly tuned 20VT will pump a VR6!

Also, if you planned on 4 motion gear, you will need a the entire Bora to cut the floor out to fit a AWD stuff. Waist of time.

    If you want a VR6 in a mk4, buy a bora!

    IMHO.

    Overpriced, over weight & underpowered!

If that's what you call a performance car, then so be it I suppose.

As far as I have read, the R32 motor is not FSI.

Now that's a bit harsh ain't it? But each to there own, I'm not going to take it personally, nor am I going to get into a big argument about it. All I will say is that it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it and I love it.

I believe that from 2005 when the 3.6L was introduced, both the 3.2L and 3.6L got FSI. Nowhere near certain about this though.

For those interested, that wonderful source of technically correct and accurate information, Wikipedia has a reasonable entry about the VR6 engine.

As long as you love it, that's the main thing Trent.

Don't get me wrong. Out of all the R32's the Mk4 is by far my favorite.

I don't rate the new R32 too much.

I just reckon there's a heap more bang for your buck out there.

Didn't mean to offend anyone. That's just my opinion.
