it says it's designed for the golf5 platform, is it still fine for our 4's?
VCDS (VAG-COM Diagnostic System) License with Micro-CAN Interface The enthusiast's interface you need to turn any PC with an available USB Port into a powerful diagnostic tool for MK5 based Golf Technology Models.
Features:
Low-cost interface designed exclusively for use on cars based on Mk.5 Golf technology. This interface is not backwards compatible with older cars using K-lines for diagnostics, and it is not compatible with some Audi models. See the Micro-CAN technical page for a list of compatible models.
Acts as a "dongle". No "Software Activation" required! When used with this interface, VAG-COM is always fully-functional on any PC that meets the requirements.
USB connector plugs into most modern laptops! (USB 1.1 or 2.0)
Bi-Color (red/green) status/activity LED
12 month guarantee against defects.
Yep, the micro-can version won't work for Mk4
You need the HEX-CAN-USB version
