Mini Sydney GB: 8L S3 front strut brace (should fit R32/Bora 4Mo engine bay)

    Hi all,

After seeing that Mr. JLT has a strut brace in his Mk4 R32 that clears the 3.2L VR6 engine (and which I believe should also clear the 2.8L in my Mk4 Bora V6 4Mo), I'm considering a small GB of the same brace from ECSTuning.

You can see the brace in Mr. JLT's car here. And here's the page on the ECSTuning site which lists it.

It'd normally cost ~$180 or so to land it - I can land a small number for AUD$150 each.

Let me know if you're interested.

Here is a pic of HitmanR32 old car......

I think from memory he had to use a spacer of sorts to boost the strutbrace in order for it to clear the throttle body, anyone able to confirm?

Ah, interesting - I did notice that Jay's engine bay looks a bit non-standard back there (actually, everywhere!).

Might get one in and trial fit it - if it works, then I'll go ahead with the GB...

is there an agreed loss of rigidity at the strut tops to warrant this?

I remember getting one on my 03 WRX Peanut-Eye and found out it was proven wasted money as the chassis was fine at the strut tops. It helped earlier models but had been fixed once the 03s went into production.
