One thing to note is that a 2.25" mandrel bent system is probably the equivelent of a 2.5" press bent system, because mandrel bends don't reduce in diameter the way press bends do.
    Nothing to see here...

Yeah it's and R32. I would have thought that a custom stainless would have been heaps more expensive than a pre fab unit. But there you go, would a custom unit be able to match a pre fab for sound, drone and power?

I'd never buy an overpriced off the shelf exhaust, when you can get the same power and sound from a well put together custom exhaust.
My car has a custom 2.5" from the cat back, with an xforce muffler and it sounds great, no drone inside the cabin (may be different from the R32), and Im sure it cost a ****load less than anything off the shelf from the US/UK.

I wouldn't buy an off the shelf exhaust either.. unless you have money to burn.

I recently made a full custom (turbo back) stainless exhaust for my RX7.
Was quoted $1,800 to $2,000 from Exhaust shops to make using Magnaflow cat, resonator and muff.

Bought the same Magnaflow components, made it up myself and paid to have it tig'd up.

Cost me less than $850 !!! and it's exactly how I wanted it to fit under the car.

I do have a 3 inch custom cat back SS exhaust (with twin upward facing tips) to bolt onto a Mk4 Golf, if anybody is interested.
Could always put a reducer in to knock it down to 2.5 inches.

dont mean to stir the pot, but I went to a exhaust shop and we discussed options for my Bora 4mo. The guy was mega helpful, had the car on the hoist and did all sorts of measurements.. then we talked about the different ways the rear box could be constructed, given it sits longitudinal (same as R32) on the 4mo. Prob was, when he calced up all the parts, then added labour, it was about the same as an off the shelf unit (give or take $100) but even he admitted there was no way to gaurantee the resultant sound or drone, only that it "should be better".

I know this was a 1 off, and I havent run around to compare shops, but I dont have the time for that. I'm one for pre fab and proven systems.

I have a full Milltek turbo back resonated system on my car and cannot complain about it at all.Very quiet at cruising speeds but makes all the right sounds when pushed.
There was also a significant increase in power felt.
Have not had a dynotune so cannot verify how much.
Admittedly the system was not cheap !

I bought my Magnaflow "parts" (high flow cat, resonator and muffler) on eBay and saved a fortune.
Labour was vastly reduced as I cut measured and marked my piping (bought from stainless steel supplier), then taped it up, gave it a trial fit then took it to a welder (not an exhaust shop) to tig up.
    Piece of piss.

I wasn't prepared to spend the 2k, when I knew I could do most of it myself.

If you've got the money then sure buy one off the shelf.
