    Milltek non res vs. Other.

    Hey all;

I am looking at an exhaust upgrade for my .:R32 and have been doing a bit of research, for a Milltek system (non res) in Australia i have been quoted $1,850, but then on ECS there are APR, Billy boat and Magnaflow for all less than $1,000.

My question is; if there are any differences between the Milltek and say, APR, what are they? and are they really that dramatic for an extra ~$1,000?? (Im going to assume there is a large price gap there purely because it's a product from the US, too.)

    Thanks,
    Drew.

the apr's are supposed to be of higher build quality.

    not sure about performance.

just get ecs items. cant argue with the price.
are you sure they are that cheap?

Yes they are that cheap. I got my cat back APR 2.5" exhaust for $1000AU landed compared to $2000 to buy from Aus. You'd be silly to pay extra when you can get it so cheap from overseas, especially with the GB on atm from ECS.

Billy Boat and APR R32 exhausts are one and the same, the APR is built for them by Billy Boat, at least it was when they first came out a few years ago, whether APR are building them in house now I haven't heard, Guy could answer that one.

FWIW I'm currently using the APR/B&B but planning on changing to a full headers back Milltek system supplied by Rennenhaus here in Australia.

David Watson is using the full Milltek system in his R32 he runs in showroom class in the team in Targa and it is brilliant.

    Cheers Al

I've also been looking at the ECS exhausts, does anyone have thoughts on the magnaflow cat-back, any performance difference between the brands. Cheers, Jared

What car do you have? The magnaflow exhausts are only 2.25" and I think the smallest you would want on a 1.8t is 2.5". But a magnaflow would be fine for a 2.0L.

    I think he's got an R32...

I'm probably biased - but I can't fault Magnaflow's systems. Love the sound they produce for the VR, and I'd recommend that sound to any VW V6 owner.

Ah ok, yeah I was going to buy a magnaflow exhaust for my VR6 but I ended up getting the GTI first. 2.25inch would be alright for an NA car wouldn't it? They claim that they make a decent amount of power, equal with many 2.5inch systems when I was looking and good price!

I've found prices for stainless custom rigs to be much cheaper than any aftermarket product. should be just as good as Miltek or any other brand and you're supporting local business!
