Lowering Springs

I've been trying to find some lowering springs for my Golf MKIV. I've been recommended Eibach Pro Kit or H&R Sport Springs by other forum members. After doing some research, the Eibach's don't seem to go low enough to my likings.

I'm looking for something like this, without damaging the ride too badly:



How many mm's would someone estimate the above car's springs to be? 40mm? Could anyone recommend the H&R's?

i would say that low you would be looking at coilovers and mayb gettin a sway bar to suit the car being lowered. someone else might be able to tell me and you different

Thanks 83_SUS, but not sure if i want to get coilovers as yet.

I found these JAMEX lowering springs, alot of people are recommending them over at UK-MKIV forums. Any ideas?

ECS have some cheap coilover options.
Not sure what the'd be like but think they said would lower between 30-50mm.

Mmm, that's the claimed lowering measurement. The Eibach's say 30mm but alot of people get around 15-20mm. Anyone with some springs that sit their MkIV Golf pretty low like the pic in OP?

Silver Dubs bora wouldnt have been far off.
the reason they are only getting half the listed drop is most likely due to there stock springs already have sagged 10-15mm
Theres another Spring set above the Eibach prokit (name beats me) try that.
Or then again get a cheaper coilover package and change height as you please

The more aggressive Eibach springs are the Sportlines and they claim 45-50mm front/30-35mm rear.
There are two reasons for not getting 30mm in drop:
1. the old springs may have sagged as dylan8 said
2. depending on if your golf already has sport suspension (ie GTI which is already 15mm lower than a normal golf) then you will only get an additional 15mm out of 30mm lowering springs.

You should also be aware you will need to change your front swaybar or get different swaybar endlinks to give more clearance when lowering your car past 1.5" if you didn't already know...

my H&R sport springs installed today should lower the car 35/38mm, and i can confirm that in reality, my back left end has only lowered 2mm max! haha.
check out my thread i've bumped back up for some more discussion on this. there's some pics of a 50mm drop, and it's not as low as the pic you've posted, so i'd guess at 55mm for that pic. i'd want coilovers for that low.

McDub do you have pictures of your H&R Springs on your car?

There's not much to show as currently the back is almost the same height as a stock GTI, and the front is about 10-14mm lower (so i have rake...)
I'l take some pics in a week or two though (i'm just hoping it settles down a little, though i hear this "settle" business is a myth)
