Lower Intercooler Pipe install ends in tears

Just a heads-up to anyone else who has the S3 style (KW) front anti-sway bar and is thinking of doing the Neuspeed Lower Intercooler pipe mod. These two items don't play well together.

Got mine installed, took it for a test run and went...."hmmm......that's a new noise!"

Pulled back into the garage, had a look, and promptly uninstalled it.

Disapointed, but you get that!, So, anyone who wants this pipe cheap, it has a bit of a flesh wound but there's no hole in it, PM me if anyone interested.

Yep, it's hitting the pivot joint. It's a totally different setup to stock so it's not a problem with the Neuspeed pipe at all.

Didz, if your car has a stock sway-bar you'll be fine, it's just that the type I have (KW) is a quite different setup and Neuspeed can't help that.

It was a PITA having to do the job twice in one afternoon, along with the disapointment that there was a compatibility issue. I had sweat pi$$ing out of me, took several beers to get back to normal.

Ok, I came up with an idea I'm going to try. I'll try making up a little bracket to move the attachment point of the pipe over about 10-15mm. Hopefully this will give me the clearance I need, as long as it doesn't then start rubbing against the plastic liner behind it. .

    Wish me luck

Is the bar you have on very different to any other bar (Whiteline / H&R / Neuspeed) ??

I wonder if i'll have a similar problem with my whiteline bar.

Not sure about the other bars, you'll have to try it mate. I guess Neuspeed make these pipes to fit on a stock vehicle without taking into account different types of bar setups.

The KW is probably different to most of the other Mk4 bars out there, most of the others are similar to stock with bigger hoops to clear the driveshaft, I know the Whiteline runs underneath the driveshaft but not sure on the attachment method.

I guess everyone can be aware and make sure they check this out now, before they drive thier vehicle too far after the install.

Soverign, I have the whiteline sway bar and I get a slight squeak but I'm also suspecting that's because my car is tooo low. I'm fixing this with coilovahs!!!

Actually - I think I now know what the cause is of mine. It's squeaking on the drivers side and my control arm bushing is stuffed. It only squeaks when I accelerate (the bushing isn't holding back the drive shaft enough. Hopefully new bushings will sort this out.
