That's not cool mate. It's got to suck when you shell out that much money and it doesn't fix the problem and then they turn all useless and very unhelpful.
Where abouts are you located? We have lots of experienced mechanics on here. Plenty of members can also recomend reputable independant VW mechanics that should be able to help you out as well as doing much better quality work and being cheaper in most cases as well.
    Cheers,
    Trent

The hell is a low speed fan for?

Sorry to hear. I'm about to go through issues with another reputable workshop too... as seemingly they messed up fitting my suspension, and 3k kms later, it's screwed **** up...

Didn't realise good workshops were so hard to find! Maybe try the infamous Seb, who knows his stuff - as everybody on here vouches for.

How annoying is it when they say, "All new parts in and tested OK" and within seconds of driving off you hear the same noises again?

Mate, I feel for you, I really do. Was it them that serviced the car at the last service by any chance? (Assuming you had the scheduled service) If so, I'd be asking how they missed the torn CV Boots, that allowed your CV joints to wear out. It's pretty weird that they'd both tear at the same time, within the same service period. I've had boots go on previous cars and usually one might be torn, signaling it's time to change both, but it was always picked up at the next service, before all the dirt got in and caused failure.

Edit: Just noticed who did the service two days before you started the thread, ....VW Parramatta, ....nicely not-spotted guys. They should have seen the torn boots and at least noted it and recommended to you that they replace them as they were supposedly performing the 120,000km service

    Pi$$ Poor really

    Snowy.

    Thank you

    Thanks for the replies

Treza360 - I'm located in Sydney mate, Bankstown area, can you recommend someone, i'd like to have all the work done looked at.

Jmac - thats good news, if i can get the cost of my fans back i'm having a beer for you =)

D3bb4 - its dissappointing issn't it, i try and pay top price, expecting top quality.. not always the case ey. Forums like VWwatercooled does make it easier to find and keep the right people.

No457_Snowy - haha "annoying" is putting it nicely! i paid $987.00 for a 120Km Major service (done at 116km) and in the invoice it states " checked suspension". if i can prove they should have picked up the issue at the time, i should get a partial refund for the work not performed, and i'm sure Fair trading would agree.

D3bb4/Manaz - are you reffering to the same place/person?? how do i find this place?

OH FYI - Vibration problem still exists - Urge to kill rising
