Dylan my bora also doesnt warn me when the oil is getting low, but just when it is completely gone.
But wow can this car drink! Id say mine is probably a bit more than 1L / 1000km, so tend to check it very regularly.
Jmac, I take it its too hard to get to the 'oil control ring', in order to do a quick fix by flipping it up the right way?... I don't have any knowledge of where this would be, but if someone knows (and it would fix the excessive drinking) im sure it would be a lot of help for the mkIV owners out there! :driver:
So how hard is this to do?
Cheers,
Ben
It's a head and sump off job to do the rings. DIYable but you'd need some previous experience of the subject.

Jesus! That's just unacceptable in my opinion. My 1.8t doesn't use a drop.
Japanese cars are sounding better each day... :(
did you take it to golfwagen? jo told me the same thing and where did it get serviced? when i first got my car i got the dipstick showing empty but no light after that i spoke to him i check it about once a month and keep it at the top it seems to burn less the closer to full it is once it get to the low end of the dip stick it drops off very quick
i have a 2.o auto 00
Try Shell HX7-K, this will slow the process down hopefully, im trialling it as we speak, also will be dealing direct with Penrite soon and will also try their equivilant
Cheers

Mine doesn't use too much, at least not a noticable amount. It's funny how there is so much variation between similar models. Mine is an '04 though.
