Yup 225/40/18! Was going to go for 235/40/18 but wasn't sure how much strut clearance I had. Next tyres will probably be 235/40/18, Im happy to accept the slightly bigger rolling diameter for the trade off of being able to get a wider range of tyres that will be the correct load rating!

Also last night I gave the car a good run through the hills and deduced a few things.
The Brakes have fantastic initial bite but the street spec pads fade a bit early, plans are to get a set of Project MU HC+ pads or Hawk HP+ pads.
Pad Knockback is rearing its ugly head :/ Given my front bearings have done 150xxxKm first stop is to replace them and hope that helps. I've e-mailed Koyo, NTN and SKF all to see if they have heavy duty bearings suitable for motorsport applications in a 40x74x40 size. Failing that / If new bearings doesn't help enough i'm going to look at putting in anti knock back springs into the calipers. Stay tuned!

Oh and I've also discovered a coolant weep from somewhere around the thermostat housing, so when I next pull things apart that'll be getting replaced along with the crack pipe!

For now, i've cleaned the car and here's a new photo

You should be able to fit 235/40 easy. I'm just about to fit 235/40 on the front with 8.5 ET35

I am impressed. This is exactly what I want to do but did not realise the work involved. I have a 2.0 Litre FWD standard engine BUT with the drop suspension and 19" 225/35/19. Wish I had a list of parts to buy and what needs to be converted/adjusted i.e. exhaust to fit turbo etc. to do the conversion.

I'll just don my flame suit and wait for the chorus of "sell it!", "swap the engine for a 1.8T/ V6" : crickets :

    Back on thread:

Would like to see a few shots of the wheels from further back to really get an idea of how they complement the car.

Well put in the whiteline 22mm swaybar today. Result = Car feels more responsive in turn in. The back doesn't come out to play which wasn't the goal anyway so i'm happy about that but it does feel like with a flick and some power I could make it dance. The bar is currently on the softest setting so ~ equivilant to the 20mm swaybar on its stiffest setting.

I'll try playing around with it, going between the different settings but for a relatively cheap mod I think its quite effective.

Next on the list is new front wheel bearings to try to help reduce the pad knockback I'm suffering. Time to hit up ECS i think!

Long time, no bump. I've driven the car probably half a dozen times in the past 3 months. As its not a daily and life is pretty busy I unfortunately don't get the time to drive it as much as i'd like. That said the few times I have gone for a play in the hills i've been very frustrated by the pad-knockback! As such I bit the bullet and bought new wheel bearings and a few other goodies recently from ECS.

I'll also be getting anti-knock-back springs from either AP or a maker in the U.S. so hopefully my pad-knock back woe's will be solved. That combined with some more aggressive pads should make for a pretty evil brake setup, the potential in them is huge, just a few teething issues.

Hopefully i'll get it all sorted in the next few weeks but as always, gotta find time to do it all!
