Lock Nut key oem

Hi all,

Went to go get a wheel alignment and a rotation and was told they couldnt do the rotation cause they couldn't find the lock nut key, i had a look and i cant find it either (Never needed it before so im guessing the old owner either lost it or still has it).

So i am after one, where would be the best place to get one from. I tried from Gerald Slaven - Belconnen ACT and what a bunch of tools, didn't know anything about vw's and lennock was closed, Guessing lennock will be my best shot in getting a new lock nut key?

Guessing i will have to provide them with the vin? to get the correct lock nut or will i have to bring it in?

There are a few possibilities (about 20) differnt keys it could be.

I bought the whole master set off VW, i`d check it and tell you which one fitted if you were in Sydders.

A VW service centre SHOULD be able to sort it for you.

You could also go and ask the previous owner.

When I bought our Polo the special tool was missing from the kit & someone had fitted standard bolts. After checking the price of new ones [arm & leg] I went to the wreckers & bought 4 bolts & the tool for just $5 IIRC.
If you could get another set, go to Loon & have him undo the ones on the car & swap over.

There are four different kits that all dealers should have. It's a matter of matching one up, and ordering accordingly from the parts catalogue.

Gerald Slaven VW are relatively new to the scene, so you're better off going with Lennock's.

go to a dealer, theyll bring their set out from the workshop, work out which one fits your security lug, and then if you are lucky they have one in stock. for example, mine was a number 6 (ask me how i know ), but had to be ordered from the main wharehouse...

alternatively, borrow the security lug they used to find out which one you need, and take off all your security bolts then and there, and purchase 4 wheel lugs. may be slightly cheaper than the $33 odd for the lock nut key, but obviously you no longer have secured wheels...

Good news,

Rang the old owner and he found the lock nut key around 2weeks ago and put it somewhere safe knowing i would probably ring up after it.

So all is good, i don't need to worry about getting a flat or anything. Thanks for the help guys
