Queensland Racway - thats about the closest thing to nuringberg in qld
or u could come down the coast with us on a sunday to our speical spot but i didnt say that ****looks around for police***
Ok, are there any places in Brisbane where you can legally go to and thrash your car.
I'm thinking of a raceway or similar. Like some places in Europe, there are race tracks that you pay per lap to just go and record times etc.
Are there any places like that in Brisbane, as I would like to see what my Bora can get up to.
Thanks.

... you obviously haven't seen the special-effects that happen in real-life when you crash.
They have "Test & Tune" days (usually Wednesdays) that you can just rock up to and pay your bux (don't ask, I don't know).

As others have mentioned, Queensland Raceway have test and tune days but your best bet if you want to do it regularly is to join a local car club that has regular track days (Like the Porsche club that accept members with cars other than Porsche & have one of the best motorsport/track day series of any club and are a great bunch of guys) . Other than that there are also quite a few local companies that offer track days at venues such as QLD Raceway, Lakeside & Morgan Park on a regular basis, a couple that come to mind are Dijon Johnson from The Racing Room and Paul Stokell Motorsport who is now running the track and training days for Sherrin Motorsport Be aware that you will have to have at a minimum a 2kg dry powder fire extinguisher and approved helmet and in all likelyhood either an AASA license or CAMS 2s license depending on the venue though the organiser can usually provide that on the day, just check with them first.
If you just want to try it out first to see if it's for you then I recommend contacting Dijon at the Racing Room and he will sort you out, please tell him that Alastair said to contact him and he will look after you. I also have a spare Sparco helmet that has only been used a couple of times and spare balaclava you can borrow if you are just going out to see if it is for you before you buy your own.
If you want any more info just PM me
Cheers Al

Wow thanks for all the info. I think the Test & Tune days seem to be more what i'm looking for. Just would be interested in the cost... which wouldn't be small.
I'll have to look into it further. Thanks again.
