Key fob gone cray cray

Key fob locks doors, but does not open them, have to open with key, which sucks in the dark haha

Is there some sort of key fob reset trick?

My last car had a process of ignition on off x3 then click unlock on key fob and it reset it.

VW have something similar? otherwise time for a new keyfob off ebay

Light only flashes for locking, nothing happens at all for open, even when I smoosh that button real good

I got a oem copy off ebay, then just replaced my internals (no re coding or getting keys cut etc)
might be worth a try, was only a few $$ from memory
