not sure that it matters that it is exposed, but it has to be secure, as in it doesn't move. Most people just rip their airbox off and check on a filter hanging off a bit of pipe without brackets to hold it in place, that's where you get in trouble.

Thanks. My only problem is having a v6 bora with an aftermarket exhaust and red P plates. Thanks for the warning tho, I was thinking about making something with an old plastic lunchbox and some heat shield just so it looks like ive made an effort Do you think that would cut down the induction noise?
Also where would you guys recommend i put the filter? I was thinking of trying to route it through to behind one of the grilles on the bumper or something similar but im not sure it can be done.
