oh right, thats not good at all!
i had light weight fly wheel put into my last car when i did the clutch. it was exedy and about the same weight around the 3kg mark from memory. it made driving hard a whole heap easier, especially going back down the gears. i definitely want to do it again. just comes down to budget now and how much i can get paid before i take it to exotic at the end of the month.
i cant wait to get my new toy running properly!!! no chance of getting booked in a broken car though

was having a poke around today and found this plastic thing which degraded from weather and crumbling... what is this little plastic thing? is it important?
my initial thought it was something for the rain sensor...

The same thing happened to mine, just get a sharp knife and cut the window out and problem solved

my car dramas havent really improved that much since i went to exotic cars in parramatta... to their credit it hasnt been their fault. and Mark has been great to deal with.

so theyve had the car for 2 weeks now, first the clutch kit was late through customs, then they had to replace one of the sprockets on the chains because it was too warn and to wait for parts. then today i got a call saying the clutch kit i got from ECS does not fit together.
the kit i got from ECS, clutch masters stage 1 with fidanza single mass flywheel, apparently has 3mm of free play when bolted together so theres no pressure from the clutch plate.
i just emailed tarmac and asked how quickly they can get a kit to sydney so my car can be finished.
im very effing gutted, i just want to enjoy the car!

anyone got any ideas as to how i got sent a clutch kit that doesnt fit? are mk4 and mk5 clutch systems different sizes or did ecs just ship the wrong thing?

this is the gap between the clutch disk and pressure plate, picked up to send back to ECS today.

while i was at exotic cars today Arthur and mark showed me it wasnt just the chain guides, but the centre sprocket that runs in the middle of the top chain was severely warn. mark said i was lucky to have not skipped a tooth yet and that it probably would have happened in the next couple of thousand KMs

Check all the part numbers on the actuall hardparts to what they list on the kit, check all the parts labels that ECS use. I've received wrong parts from ECS on numerous occassions but I've also found that they don't hesitate to send out solutions.

On another note, if you haven't already, start checking out the vwvortex forums, if you can sift through the sh17 you'll find some good information. My understanding is that the clutch masters and even the SPEC clutch kits are pretty hit and miss. Definitely see if you can get a replacement/refund or even a store credit out of them.

That sprocket is crazy worn!! Hopefully mine isn't like that =.=

yeah guys on here warned me about spec kits, thats why i chose the one i did - cause it wasnt spec and was affordable. i have a southbend kit on the way that atrmac engineering organised me. and if ups get off there arse this time i will have the car back next week!
i sent ECS the pictures just before i posted them here, they replied today with a refund form and prepaid postage for me which was pretty good so far, ill make final judgment on their service once its all finalised. i hope its easy to resolve because theyve got some cool looking stuff that im interested in.
