I highly advise against any type of aftermarket headlight Frank for you car to be honest. The OEM HID xenon headlights are the best, IMO.

Reason why? I'm sure you don't want a clean example like yours looking like this from the front end for that matter.
yeah that angel eye/day driving light stuff looks crap! i was looking at these puppies, VW Golf GTI MK4 Euro Black Glass Lens Ellipsoid Headlamps Projector FOG Lights | eBay theyre clean and oem looking. but i got an email back from one fo the ebay sellers with them and they said they wont fit into a car with original xenons cause plugs are different... looks like ill have to wait for a used pair and paint them... i like the design of the originals but chrome lights cheapen the cars look imo

tint my ride at burwood did them... and theyll fix the mistake for nothing which is nice. they did my last car too. theyre friendly affordable and offer lifetime warranty

Might have to remove that photo to avoid a **** fight about how sacrilege it is to fit some nasty headlights like that.

Alex pointed that out to me tonight that Tint My Ride in Burwood tinted your R32, and I have to say they did a pretty good job Frank. It was an absolute pleasure meeting you tonight with a few other MK4 R32's.

What a thread! It really portrays the passion a car enthusiast shows when acquiring a car and the feelings throughout. But re-iterating what I said tonight, it's a good buy. Paint and interior good, timing chain needs to be looked at ASAP along with a thorough service as it came up with a few error codes on Tommy's vehicle scan checker. Only bad things were mechanicals which may just be minor and not as serious as we thought. Polish those exhaust tips! They were pretty black. If it is the timing chain you would hate for it to snap and ruin the head of the engine.

If you need any help you know where to find me. Give her a new lease of life she deserves it Frank. Like I said, fine to take it to Chatswood Classic Cars, but I would hate them to sting you on a vehicle check up even those it is worth it.

Have fun and I can't wait to hear from you after you have those error codes checked. Good to see that Tom brought his VCDS scanner

    1. it could be your dual mass flywheel is buggered.
    2. it could be noisy tappets
    3. it could be the injectors
    4. it could be coilpack arc'ing out
    5. could be noisy clutch release bearing

The above could be the cause of the ticking noise as well.

Thanks Robbie! I just rang pacific motors in pymble on my break for them to check it out, they're local for me so I figure it's a good place so I can walk home if they hang onto the car for a while haha.
It showed 2 camshaft sensor codes with tommie's thing last night, so the faint noise is most likely that. Was speaking to a mate and that's what we're thinking cause it stops at 1200rpm. If it was a chain it was carry on for longer and get worse under load. I'm not sure about the tapping though :/ I should be going in for a check up next Wednesday so ill have some clear answers then.
I'm doing my best not to drive it hard just incase something goes wrong, but it's very tempting do to with a new toy haha.

I don't think it's sacrilege if its done right! I want an all black and blue theme for my car when I'm done with it. Got a head start with the blue calipers too haha

A chain guide could also be the cause of the issue.. Do you have a copy of the codes and description of what the code said??

Just brace yourself if it is a chain related item, as it's not the cheapest of operations to do...

Blue and black you say? If you're painting the aristos, go SATIN black not gloss... Thank me later lol

haven't had time to check description of codes yet, but will soon! big thanks to Tommie for rolling strapped with scan tool all the time!

As Robbie said, go see Arthur @ Exoticars, can't go wrong with the level of quality they deliver. Before I bought my current R32, it was always serviced there via the previous owner..

    Oh and satin black

    ^^Nice
ill still go to pacific in pymble, free check up is awesome and cant really say no to that aye! if exotics have cheaper labor rates i may make the trek to paramatta or where ever they are. but having a good shop so close is nice! i can walk home if i decide to take it there, only like 20 mins away walking.

that is pretty much what i was thinking of going for with mine, cept with black lights and badges! is that yours 2000? for making them black you reckon powder coat or paint? im thinking powder coat cause its a bit harder and i know i can have the gutter rash repaired and hidden at the same place as the powder shop

That was my old R32.. Which sadly is now in heaven. Those wheels were in satin black and were painted.. With painting you have a lot more flexibility with colour and finish Powder coating is a lot more resilient to chips I believe.
