    Interior Rattles

I've had my Bora for a few months now, one thing I still have a hard time dealing with is the rattles!

One from the glovebox, one from the armrest assembly (when I press my arm down hard, rattle goes away) and now the drivers seat is squeaking at the rear somewhere.

It does my head in - I'm not sure where to start when it comes to sorting these out. What's the best way to find and fix these rattles? I've had the armrest assy apart and removed before to do something else, problem persists.

    Does your MK IV rattle?

I've found it's best do deal with rattles while you have things apart on the car. That double sided tape with foam in the middle is handy, or just thin parts of foam to jam in between whatever it is that's touching. Door skins are the big cultrate. Bang on panels to find where the noise is coming from and just deal with them one at a time, soon enough your cabin should be fairly quiet, your never get them all though

If any of the trim pieces/ hatch linings have been off it might be one of those metal clips that hold them on. Sometimes they don't line up 100% when you put the plastic trim back on and they get broken off to rattle in perpetuity until you find them years later.

Being a past owner of a Jetta I will never buy another, the rattles from a brand new car nearly did my head in...dealers and VW were not interested in getting them sorted, and when it was written off I had lost interest in VW.

    Got a Honda Accord Euro as a replacement,zero rattles...yay.

Between compressors. Firm suspension. Rough country roads and things like solid control arm bushes I've given up trying to fix them
